PPP Deal of the Year EMEA 23 Junuary 2008 A Hungarian PPP project has received already for the second time one of the greatest acknowledgements of the financial scene. The „PPP Deal of the Year EMEA” prize was awarded to the M6 Motorway Szekszárd – Bóly and M60 Motorway Bóly – Pécs sections ("M6 Motorway III. Phase”) by Project Finance International. The prize was taken over by Mr. Balázs Felsmann, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 23rd January 2008 in London. The current prize is connected to a green field motorway PPP project which was launched by the Ministry of Economy and Transport on 10 April 2007. The 80 km long motorway section will lead South from Budapest as part of the V/C international transport corridor and it will continue through 87 engineering structures, 7 larger bridges and 4 tunnels. The tender process was closed on 21 November 2007 and the winner Mecsek Motorway Consortium (Strabag AG, Colas SA) will have to complete construction works until 31 March 2010 and fulfill operation and maintenance requirements during the 30 year concession period. Montenegro looking at PPP Possibilities 23 Junuary 2008 Montenegro is about to sign consulting agreement for the preparation of a PPP feasibility study for 280 km long motorway. The consulting agreement is part of a 3 phase project aimed at highway construction in Montenegro. The projects in consideration for a PPP scheme are:
The first Slovak Motorway PPP Tender 18 January 2008 There are six consortia bidding in the first Slovak Motorway PPP tender. Most probably all of them will fulfill basic tender requirements. However, two of them will shortly disqualify because the Ministry of Transport announced that only 4 consortia will be admitted to the second round of the tender. The qualification criteria are the company’s equity, turnover and mostly: previous references in PPP projects. The winning consortium will have to construct and finance the highway and fulfill maintenance and operation over a 30 years period.
