Slovak Motorway PPP news 27 April 2010 The first package of PPP projects for the construction of some sections of the D1 motorway should be closed on time, that is until the end of April 2010. It was confirmed by the minister of transport Lubomir Vazny after today’s government negotiation. “I truly hope that within the given deadline financial close of the project will be reached. Currently, there are intensive negotiations are going on about the involvement of EIB and the conditions of involvement of commercial banks,” said the minister. Vazny also said that the extraordinary government negotiations called together by Prime Minister Robert Fico on April 16 was helpful for the project. According to the Prime Minister the banks were influenced by the negative opinion of the oppositionist parties about PPP projects. The Prime Minister instructed the ministers of his government to prepare a study about the suitability of PPP Projects. “We had received signals about the moderate interest of certain banks, that are involved, but afterward we received signals that the situation about their involvement remains unchanged” concluded.
