Financial Crisis hits PPP Projects 28 October 2008
Project Datafile reports that the £120m Aberdeen school PPP project can endangered because of the financial crisis. The project has been funded by Landsbanki, an Icelandic bank that has been nationalised to save it from collapse. Nysir, the Icelandic developer leading the NYOP consortium is now left in charge of trying to refinance the deal. The developer admitted that this could take a little time, refusing to rule out work on the schools being halted until the new backers were found. Construction on the project to build seven primary schools and two academies in Aberdeen has been underway for over a year, with completion due in September 2010. Source: www.projectdatafile.co.uk |
